So far, 2013 has been gratifying for most of the real estate industry. Phones are ringing, buyers are bidding and new homes are starting to spring up everywhere you look. The easiest course of action is to just sit back, get comfortable and wait for the phone to ring, but it won’t get you to the next step in your career.
Now is the time to start planning how you’re going to grow your business in 2014. How can you do better next year? What is my position in the market and how can it grow? What changes do you foresee in the market? Who will your customers be?
Your marketing needs to have a target. Look at yourself not just in terms of your numbers, but try to connect where your business comes from. What type of business do you do most, what do you enjoy doing, and is that an area you want to specialize in? This could be high-end properties, new homes, first-time buyers, certain geographical areas or more. Make a decided effort to spend your marketing dollars to connect with the clients – and business – that you want.
The time is right to ramp up your marketing now if you’re going to capture new business in 2014. Start looking at the tools available around you, whether it’s advertising, marketing collateral or online tools.
You should also get more local. Involve yourself in the community: Be an active member of your local Board of Realtors®, Chamber of Commerce and other community groups. It’s no coincidence that some of the top agents are leaders in their community.
I’m positive that 2014 is going to be a great year for the entire industry, but it takes hard work and dedication to take your business to the next level. Let’s work together to set the tone and business momentum for a brand new year!
